Anatolian Shepard’s, make pitbulls look like puppy’s when given their temperament and size. Purely bred to be a flock guardian. More so then not, Can not even be kept with it’s own kind. You can not take the wolf mentality from the wolf and you will never take the guardian from the Anatolian. The theory of the “ dry mouth “ Is purely a sale gimmick, There is not and will never be a dry mouth dog of any breed consisting of drooping jowls.This includes, boxers, bull dogs, etc. To ask a drooped flew dog to not drool. Is Like asking water to not run down a water spout. Do not tell me you have never drooled on Novocain after the dentist. WHY?? no muscle control! The same applies to a drooped flew dog. The Anatolian will protect it’s master “ flock” This may well include turning on your spouse, CHILDREN, neighbors, friends and family. WHEN he or she chooses to NOT LIKE something that day.Adding that to “THE MASTIFF” power and strength of a potentially 200 plus pound dog, made of mass and structure. You are asking for trouble. The Mastiff initially takes longer to mature into adult hood and stay very puppy for the first few years. There for you have a 50/ 50 chance of having a bomb go off in your home, From age 6 plus months to after 2 plus years. It will be a matter of WHEN? It reminds me of the cartoon of the angel on one shoulder devil on the other. You do not know which of the gene pool your so call designer pup took after, If and when it will attack. It is very disturbing that anyone would think of bring the the mastiff integrity or the Anatolian Shepard to these levels for sheer profit. While placing your family in harms way of this SUPPOSED BREED. Again the ONLY AMERICAN MASTIFF is the ORIGINAL MASTIFF owned and breed here in the good Old USA ! IF IT IS NOT AKC ! LEAVE IT BE !!!!! Any mastiff breed that is truly a mastiff, Bull mastiff, Mastiff, Neapolitans, Spanish Mastiffs, ( Great Danes) Etc or any derivative of the Original mastiff. For the " AMERICAN" that has turned on it's family. First and foremost you will NEVER find a reputable breeder selling to pet stores, or to a person whom is mixing our breed to another. If it is accompanied by and unknown un recognized registry to the AKC , PLEASE save yourself your money, heartache and family safety. AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB ! The list goes on of Bogus scams to make you believe you are buying a REAL MASTIFF. Which indeed is nothing more then a mix mutt. IF someone is NOT AKC, American Kennel Club at minimum standard , RUN, They have most likely been suspended for failing to comply to very general and minimal rules of being a breeder under AKC. When in doubt Call AKC with the breeders name, dog name etc, if you need information. They will tell you yes or no, the person is in good standing with AKC. IF they are in good standing and not offering in their contract the AKC papers, by a certain standard. Odds are you are buying and non registerable pup, that is most likely MIXED, While more so then not IF a breed can be breed for so many generations, and be a compounded improvement to the over all Canine society. They can petition the AKC to recognize the breed. What is one to say but how long this breed supposable has being breed and is NOT recognized I would tell everyone whom has been deceived into buying a Supposed AM from the breeder to go shove it on the front door step. However after attacks, many have, they gracefully have now taken your money and have the dog back, this seems to be repetitive to what we here. So can we all say SCAM ! The breed commonly called "Mastiff" in English-speaking countries is more properly described as the Old English Mastiff. It is a giant shorthaired dog, with heavy head and short muzzle, which has been bred in England for two thousand years as a watchdog.
As far as the Mastiff is concerned it has a longer history than most. Caesar describes them in his account of invading Britain in 55 B.C., when they fought beside their masters against the Roman legions with such courage and power as to make a great impression.
The Mastiff is described throughout history and literature denoting it's ongoing presence throughout England. The American Mastiff Club was formed in 1879, and some time thereafter disbanded. In 1920, the first Mastiff Club of America was founded and the present Club was established in 1929 Mastiff Club of America, Inc.
