Buying a puppy

So you have done your research and decided a mastiff puppy will make a lovely addition to your family.

There are many other factors to consider when setting out on the search of your new family member and breeder ( the life line to you and your puppy into adult hood and for life) .

When Choosing Your Potential Pup

One of the first things I must say is, What is your intent for this puppy joining your family ?

Will it be a Family Pet,  Show Dog or a Breeder.
 

Most breeders give an educated guess to a degree of certainly on the offspring you are looking to bring into your family fitting your needs.

Be it by the past breeding that have matured, to the bloodlines making up your puppy. Down to the tiniest of cosmetic flaws, pet companion pup verse a correct marked,, bone , head etc. show potential pup.

But one thing to bare in mind is, a puppy is an ever changing thing, it can go to sleep behind the couch and come out bigger then it went in.

Your puppy will be ever changing and be sure your breeder knows your intent and is keeping a watchful eye that your pup is developing into everything you expect it to be.

This is where the relationship with your breeder is critical!

However, there are very vital things a breeder can not control once a puppy have left the care of the breeder.

There will be many things that will create either a happy heart or a mournful sole in the new puppy buyer.

Nutrition !!!!  number one heart breaker to the families.

A puppy MUST receive a balanced diet ! The barney bargain hound will only lead to heart aches as it takes it toll on your puppy's health and growth rate.

Improper nutrition can cause under or over growth of bone joints and muscular systems.

This is another caution when you consider your breeder, it is critical that your breeder has had your puppy on a well balanced and healthy diet ensuring proper growth rates.

As with mastiffs, I must tell you. Please you are not buying hamburger by the pound. Look for a fit trim puppy !!!!

Nutrition is vital in rearing any pup, But the extra large and large breeds are more prone to bone and joint deformity from improper nutrition.

There are many important factors you will need to be properly armed to picking your new puppy and breeder.
